I attended Roger Ebert’s film festival the other week and my personal favorite movie was Guy Maddin’s My Winnipeg.
According to Guy Madden, the film was commissioned by the city of Winnipeg as a documentary, but My Winnipeg is hardly that. Combining archival footage with historical (and not so historical) recreations, the resulting film blends Maddin’s personal life with town legends and (probably) lies.
Part of the fun of the movie is never really knowing what is or isn’t true. I suspect most of it is false, but during a Q&A session at the festival, Maddin revealed that his mother was played by an actress, Ann Savage, and claimed that some of the movie’s most outlandish moments were completely true. I doubt it, but also don’t really want to find out.
Fans of early John Waters or Kuchar brother movies will definitely want to check this out. Unfortunately it doesn’t appear to be available on DVD in the US yet, but is available in Canada and the UK.

hard times for little Chihuahuas.. tinkerbell was sitting happily on her owner’s platform trailer at the local Waterford Township, MICH flea market, when a 70-mph gust of wind blew her away and out of sight. There is a happy ending, eventually the owners contacted a psychic who led them to nearby woods, where little tinkerbell was found all dirty.

Lost star Henry Ian Cusick is being sued by a former ABC employee who alleges sexual battery and harassment against the actor, Entertainment Weekly reported.
According to the suit, filed last week in Los Angeles court, Cusick allegedly squeezed and placed his face on the plaintiff’s breasts, kissed her on the mouth and caressed the back of her body while making moaning sounds.
The plaintiff claims the incident occurred on the set of the hit series on or about Oct. 16, 2007, and that she was fired 12 days later, in retaliation for reporting Cusick’s behavior.
ABC spokespersons, the plaintiff’s attorney, and employees of Grass Skirt Productions didn’t comment on the suit to EW.com.
